In the Elementary Hallways: Here is a student working on a phonemic awareness activity. We use kinetic sand in this exercise by rolling sand into little “bubble gum” balls. Then as the student says each sound in a CVC word they get to smash each ball. After the student smashes each sound, they then write each sound and blend the sounds together to write the word. We write sight words in kinetic sand using a stick. This is also a multi sensory activity, but it helps students learn not to push down too hard when writing (otherwise it’s hard to see the letters if they push too hard in the sand). #BurroPride
